| Baisakhi Mela… congestion at canal | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 5: The Sheheed-e-Azam Bhagat Singh foundation have urged upon the state government steps should be taken to improve the arrangement at canal head at the time of Baisakhi festival, which this year fall on April 14.
As per pres release the members of the foundation in a meeting said, a large number of people visit the area, but due to take over of mayor portion of Brigadier Rajinder Park area, the place has shrinked, and as such people face problems, due to congestion. They said that population of the city has increased many folds beside Baisakhi festival has both religious and seasonal importance, and such needs more space for the public at the canal, so that religious rituals too are performed in a nice day.
Members said instead of making the festival popular among the people, the government is trying to discourage the people from celebrating the festival, committee stressed upon the government to keep the Rajinder park open free of ticket on the Baisakhi festival.
