| Himanshu guides MCA to 9-wkt win over History | | Inter-Department Cricket Tourney of JU | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 5: Two sixes on successive balls on the long-on by Himanshu turned the match in favour of MCA helping the side make it a superb nine-wicket win over Department of History in the ongoing Inter-Department Cricket Tournament of University of Jammu, here today. Although MCA had nine wickets in hand, yet they were in need of 34 runs off 24 deliveries. It was Himanshu's tall sixes which brought the required run rate down giving the side advantage to overall the opponent total. Came to the crease as one-down, Himanshu scored 31 off 21 balls with the help of three sixes and a boundary. Earlier, batting first after winning the toss, History Department set a target of 101 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 15 overs game. Udhay Veer was top scorer with 25 runs while Ashish and Sanjeev contributed 16 and 10 runs respectively. From MCA, Munish and Himashu took two wickets each while Sumit, Brij Bushan and Pankaj shared apiece each. Later, MCA attained the goal in 13.2 overs with nine wickets intact. It was Himanshu who guided the side to impressive win contributing 16-ball 31 runs including three sixes and a boundary. Rakesh and Vishal Malhotra added 32 and 21 runs respectively. From History Department, Arvind took one wicket. In another match of the day, Department of Political Sciences registered a 27 runs victory over Law School to move into the next round.Earlier, batting first, after winning the toss, Political Sciences set a target of 144 runs losing seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Nawaz remained top scorer with 35 runs while Farooq and Ajay Kumar contributed 27 and 24 runs respectively. Pawandeep (15) and Sunil (14) were other main scorers. Achyut was most successful bowler from Law School with three wickets. Later, Law School could not chase the total and the whole side bowled out for 115 runs in 18.5 overs. Samiullah was top scorer with 35 runs coming off 26 balls with the help of five boundaries. Shashi and Rameez were other main scorers with 23 and 15 runs in their respective accounts. From Political Sciences, Kabel and Farooq took three wickets each. Mujabir and Ajay Aryan bagged one wicket each. Today's matches were officiated by Karan Dogra, Ravi Kumar, Raman Kumar and Vijay Dogra. Sat Pal was scorer.
