| NCC wins Udhampur Cricket Cup | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
UDHAMPUR, Apr 5: National Cricket Club (NCC) Jammu clinched the Udhampur Cup Cricket Tournament outplaying Rehari Cricket Club (RCC) by a heavy margin of 120 runs in the final played today at Sports Stadium, here. Earlier, after winning the toss and decided to bat first, NCC set a target of 221 runs losing all their wickets in 39.4 overs of the 40 overs match, which, in reply, RCC could not chase and bowled out for just 100 runs in 23 overs. Rakesh Koul and Rohit Bhat were main scorers from NCC with 64(62) and 39 runs respectively. From RCC, Ram Dayal and Pankaj Sasun claimed two wickets each. Later, chasing the target, RCC could not control their nerves and lost all their wickets for mere 100 runs in 23 overs. Chetan Chib and Sahil Balwal were top scorers with 22 and 19 runs in their respective accounts. From NCC, Pankaj Mahajan and Inderjeet Singh bowled well and clinched five and four wickets respectively. Pranav Mahajan was declared man of the match while Dhruv Mahajan of KCCC Jammu bagged best batsman trophy for making two centuries in the tournament. Inderjeet Singh was adjudged best blower. Raman Abrol of UCC was also given special award for securing a hat trick. District Development Commissioner, Bashir Ahmed Khan was chief guest, who gave away winners and runners-up trophies as also other individual prizes. SSP Udhampur, Surinder Kumar Gupta presided over. Prominent among others present were Prof. Birjender Singh, Sunit Sharma Tilak Singh, Des Rattan, Chander Mohan Sharma, all members of JKCA. Maqbool Shah, Ashok Kumar, Tirath Ram and SK Gandotra, CEO Udhampur. Pawan Gupta, RC Nagar, Jugal Gupta, Surjit Singh and Vinod Khajuria were also among those who witnessed the final. The tournament is being organized by Sham Saroop Gupta while Rajan Singh Slathia was organizing secretary.
