| 52 'Hussain Day' function held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Apr 5: The 52nd annual function of 'Hussain Day' was organized by the Hussain Day Committee at Karbala complex Wazarat Road in two sittings from 10 AM to 1 PM and from 4 PM to 7 PM here today.
First session was presided over by Prof Qudous Javed former Head of Urdu department University of Kashmir, while Sardar Gurmukh Singh ex-Minister was the chief guest whereas Aga Asgar Ali Karbalai was the guest of honour.
The convener of the Committee gave a short resume of the importance of having set in motion the necessity of holding this function that was started in the early 1950' by Syed Zafar Kazmi and Sharief Kazmi.
It was pointed out that it is not absolutely a religious based function of a particular sect but is a National platform from where every speaker and poet is free to express his sentiments and thoughts about the incidence of Karbala and its after effects and its relationship with the present world scenario.
The second session was presided- over by Mohammad Yousuf Tain. Shiekh Abdul Rehman President of state unit of the Samajwadi party, and Prof Zahur-Ud-Din ex-head of Urdu Department University of Jammu were the chief guest and the guest of honour respectively.
In both the sessions Quarnic verses, "naat" , "manqbat" and "salam" were recited by the invited poets.
A galaxy of speakers including Paras Ram Poonchi, Maulana Mod. Hussain Hussaini, Dr.Zahur-ud-Din, Abid Hussain, Shiv Nandan, Maulana Syed Ali Asgar Kousar Jaffh spoke at length about the incidence of Karbala that took place more than 1370 years back at Karbala where Imam Hussain was confronted with Yazid who was bent upon to tarnish the image and messages of Islam.
Special invited speaker was Maulana Syed Mohammad Hussain Hussaini from UP.
First sitting was compered by Khurshid Kazmi whereas second was conducted by Jamil Kazmi.
