| CPI (M) flays invoking ESMA on govt staff | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 6: Sham Prasad Kesar, Regional Secretary, Jammu Regional Committee CPI(M) expressed anguish over the invoking of ESMA on state government employees. He further said that the Government, instead of resorting to this draconian law should have evolved strategy to sort out the issues by holding fruitful negotiations with the employee's leadership. "Though the Government has already agreed to resolve the issues pertaining to payment of arrears of 6th Pay Commission, increase of HRA by 5%, removal of pay anomalies at various levels, converting of COLA to DA but invoking of ESMA is likely to create wedge between the Government and State Employees which is bound to affect the efficiency of the Government and would lead to innumerable hardships for the general masses of the state", he said CPI(M) urge the state government to take steps to approach Union Government for arrangement of funds for payment of 6th Pay Commission arrears to the state Government employees. It also appealed the Union Government to provide funds on this account to resolve the problem. CPI(M) urged all the political parties not to use the employees strike for their petty political ends. It also appealed that essential services like health and PHE should be exempted from the strike to avoid inconveniences for the general people. |
