| Kamad villagers protest against 'neglect' of Lord Shiva's shrine | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 6: Local residents of village Kamad in Billawar tehsil staged a strong protest against the district administration for its alleged failure to ensure security and medical facilities at holy shrine of Lord Shiva on the banks of river Ujh. Hundreds of local people led by a youth leader, Ramneek Singh ghearoed the office of Tehsildar Billawar to express their resentment against the "indifferent" attitude of the administration towards holy shrines of the area. The protestors alleged that about 4000-5000 pilgrims are visiting the shrine on daily basis but the administration has completely failed to provide basic facilities like medicare and security at this shrine. Shouting slogans against the administration, the protestors demanded that the shrine should be brought under the purview of Shrine Board on the pattern of Shiv Kohri shrine. Later, the agitating villages also called on Tehsildar Billawar and apprised him of the prevailing situation. The Tehsildar assured the protestors that he would take up the matter with higher authorities and necessary measures would be taken soon to ensure security and medical facilities.
