| Border fence repairing on war footing: Army | | | Early Times Report Jammu, April 6: The Army authorities have accorded top priority for the repair of the border fence which had been damaged at a number of places in the forward areas of Kupwara district owing to heavy snow. The decision has been taken to press into service labourers and engineers to carry out repair work on a war footing after it had been found that some militant groups have sneaked into the Kashmir sector after walking over the damaged fence. Reports from across the border received by the Army authorities have revealed that large groups of militants, equipped with sophisticated weapons, were being pushed into Jammu and Kashmir . Official sources said that the Army had installed more sensors on the LOC and the International Border for monitoring the movement of militants. It has been found that more than 75 per cent infiltration bids foiled by the troops are the result of the rebel movement caught by the sensors. It has been decided to install more sensors. Sources said that since the agencies across the LOC were trying to kick up the level of violence in Jammu and Kashmir by stepping up infiltration of militants into the state the Army authorities have been told to deploy additional forces for checking some loopholes on the border. Sources said that Pakistani agencies were unhappy with the sudden drop in the level of violence in the state, especially in the Kashmir valley, during the last one year. These agencies had been worried by the increase in the elimination of militants and the arrest of others and hence have plans to send more groups of rebels to the state so that the "Jehadis" had sufficient manpower. Another reason for the desperate infiltration bids was that the agencies across the LOC do not want either the peoples'resistence or protest demonstrations to fizzle out or force militants to lie low.Since the peoples'resistence, including the protests and stone pelting incidents had been defeated by strong measures taken by the Government Pakistani agencies have decided to concentrate on pushing bigger groups into Jammu and Kashmir in the next two to three months so that the entire current summer remain hot for the Government and the security forces.
