| Chib reviews functioning of essential services | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 7: Minister for Medical Education, Prof. R. S. Chib today said that the services of striking adhoc, contractual and consolidated employees, engaged in essential services, would not be regularized who do not resume their duties within 24 hours. This was stated by the Minister, who was on visit of Associated Hospi-tals, to take stock of their functioning here today. During the visit, Prof. Chib visited Government Medi-cal College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu, Indira Gandhi Government Dental College and Government Shree Maharaja Gulab Singh Hospital, Shalamar. He inspected various wards, sections and Out Patients Departments (OPD) and enquired about the services being provided to the in-door and out-door patients. Talking to media, the Minister said that all essential services, including medical services would be covered under essential services Maintenance Ordinance (ESMO). He said that there would be "No work no pay" and added that action would be taken under ESMO against employees who are absent from duty or do not work after marking their attendance. Prof. Chib said that provision of Health Care Services to the people is the top priority of Government and any disruption would not be allowed in this regard. Stressing on maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in and around the institutions, he said that need based outsourcing would be done if required. He instructed the Principal and Medical Superinten-dents of the hospitals for furnishing the list of absentees and who are not working after marking after marking attendance. He expressed satisfaction over the security arrangement made in these institutions. The Minister was apprised that the services in emergency and Intensive Care Units is running smoothly. The OPDs are also functioning as usual but the numbers of patients visiting OPD are lesser. Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Principal GMCH, Jammu, Administrator and Medical Superintendents of the hospitals accompanied the Minister.
