Sandeep, Gourav script 62-run win for CHTM
Inter-Department Cricket Tourney of JU

JAMMU, Apr 7: Sandeep Kotwal and Gourav Sharma today guided Centre for Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) to a fine 62- run win over Department of Bio Technology in the ongoing Inter-Department Cricket Tournament of University of Jammu, here.
With today's win, CHTM sailed into the quarterfinals of the tournament alongwith Department of Physics and Electronics. In the first scheduled match for the morning session, Physics and Electronics awarded walkover after both the teams in line could not turn up.
Earlier, Gourav helped CHTM set a competitive target of 153 runs for the loss eight wickets in the allotted 20 overs with his fine knock of 47 (off 22 balls, 2x6, 6x4) runs.
Manav Bali also played well contributing 17-ball 26 runs including five hits to the fence while Sahil and Manoj added valuable 24 and 18 runs respectively. From Bio Technology, Maroof was most successful bowler with three wickets while Sunny and Akash shared two each. Mohsin took one.
Batting second, Bio Technology made a good start but could not resist the bowling attack from CHTM, especially the spell bowled by Sandeep Kotwal. Going well at 81 for four in 11 overs, Sandeep reduced the side to 85 for seven in the very next over.
A single over turned the match around with CHTM taking full command over the game. Soon the whole side of Bio Technology went to the pavilion making 90 runs in 14.2 overs. Rauf was only batsman to reach the double figure mark with 20-ball 25 runs in his account.
Sandeep emerged as most successful bowler with four for 14 in three overs while Rakesh took three for 17. Madhu and Manav shared apiece each.
Today's match was officiated by Raman Kumar and Vijay Dogra while Sat Pal was scorer.
NEXT MATCH: Department of Geology shall meet Department of Urdu at 8 am while Department of Mathematics shall face Department of Punjabi at 1 pm tomorrow.
