| Ensure sanitation in all parts of Valley: Dy. CM | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR, Apr 7: The Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand has called upon the Srinagar Municipal Corporation and Local Bodies authorities to ensure complete sanitation in Srinagar City and other Urban and semi urban areas of the valley. The Deputy Chief Minister was addressing a high level meeting of Officers of SMC, Local Bodies, SDA and LAWDA. Tara Chand instructed the Commissioner SMC to engage 600 laborers besides tippers to clear garbage from all roads and divide Srinagar City into four zones each headed by an officer. He said these measures would be in addition to the steps already taken for the purpose. The Deputy Chief Minister urged the vice-chairman LAWDA to speed up work on Rakh-e-Arath for Dal Dwellers. He said these Plots are allotted to them. The Commissioner SMC informed the meeting that 30 auto load carriers, besides 4 tippers, have been pressed into service for collecting garbage from various parts of the City. Later, he also inspected ongoing works in Dal Lake. He instructed Vice Chairman LAWDA to engage more man power to clear algae and weeds from some portions of the Dal Lake. The Vice Chairman informed the Deputy Chief Minister that though the green Algae are not harmful for the lake, which come to surface due to rise in temperatures, however, it will be cleared manually by engaging more skilled laborers.
