As it was first of its kind religious programme being held in the area, it attracted people of all shades and faiths not only from the State of Punjab but adjoining states also. Thousands of people from Jammu also participated in the Yagya and remained stationed there during the whole ceremony. The 108-Kundi Maha Yagya titled as "Shree Dewarika Nath Gopal Maha Yagya", which concluded with the Purnahuti (final offerings) today on April 7, 2010, commenced on March 28 and a galaxy of learned Pandits, religious scholars and saints from all over India participated in it, who use to recite Vedic hymns and Yagya Aahuti Mantras daily thereby creating a unique atmosphere all-around. For full eleven days it was a rare occasion for the residents of Gharota and its connected villages, not only the Holy Yagya but also the "Raasleela" performed by a team of artists from Varindaban that captivated and gave them a strange experience of being part of such a fully sanctified religious ceremony. It is for the first time that such a huge Yagya is being solemnized, which is in the memory of Shree Dewarika Nath Shastri Ji Maharaj (Holy Smadhi Sthal in Sohanjana, Jammu) and under the supervision of Swami Shri Ganga Dhar Sharma. Another major attraction of the programme was the Holy Parikrama of the Yagya Mandap (Sanctum Sanctorum) for which the devotees use to throng the venue since early in the morning in large numbers and continue the same the whole day, till the Yagya Purnahuti. It may be mentioned here that this Maha Yagya was organized in the supervision of Mahatma Shri Ganga Dharji, who had taken special interest and put in his best efforts to make it a success. Besides, it took more than a month for completion of work on the holy 108-Kundiya Yagya Mandap as more than 35-40 artisans were engaged to prepare the Mandap with over 5 full truckloads of bamboos and after completion it became a great attraction for the devotees visiting the venue. As Shree Hanuman Ji Jayanti was celebrated on March 30, a wrestling competition was also organized at the venue, wherein famous wrestlers from all over the country took part. The land measuring 5 acres, where the holy Yagya was performed for the first time, was donated by an old woman namely Mata Koushalya Devi, a resident of Gharota village. Sharing their feelings, the devotees, while performing Parikrama of the Yagya Mandap, said that it was for the first time that such a religious programme was held in the area. "We hope that such programmes will continue onwards too, so that there is clean atmosphere and faith of people in religion and God becomes stronger," they added.
