| SP criticizes coalition govt. for postponing elections | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 7: To ensure that only genuine person participate and selected in the local bodies elections, the state unit of Samajwadi Party formed People's United Front (PUF) to coordinate with other political parties and groups to support right thinking persons, in two days executive body convention held in Satwari. Giving details of the convention, former MP and state president SP Abdul Rehman in the convention, important resolutions on national and state level were also passed. Main resolutions included first resolution on the issue of mass scale corruption in various departments, despite liberal funding from the centre very nominal is visible on ground, In second resolution it was felt with serious concern that despite tall claims of the state and central government regarding so-called normalized situation, the incidents of violence across the state are on the rise. It was noted with surprise that in spite of largest ever opposition strength in Assembly, precious time was wasted in allegations and counter allegation between NC and PDP instead of addressing issues of public interest. The SP strongly condemned the coalition government for its decision to postpone the election to the local bodies and terms it as murder of the basic unit of the democracy. The resolution further said that both NC and Congress do not want to de-centralize the power into the hands of duly elected representatives at the grass root level. The SP clarifies with great surprise that no steps were taken during the just concluded assembly session to remove the regional and sub-regional disparities and imbalances. Newly formed PUF is headed by party president Sheikh Abdul Rehman, D K Singh as vice president, Fayaz Ahmed Bhat as general secretary, Choudhary Mohammad Yunis as provincial president, Ram Singh Chauhan as provincial general secretary, Amrit Varsha president mahila wing, Nazir Ahmed Bharr as state secretary, Abdul Rehman Shangoo state secretary and Kaiser Nizami as general secretary.
