| Cong-NC's dubious functioning root cause of sufferings: Prof Gupta | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 7: False promises and the dubious functioning of the ruling leaders are the main reasons for many of the turmoil and sufferings of the people in state alleged leader of BJP Legislators Party, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta while addressing meetings at Sarwal, Janipur and other places in Jammu West Assembly Constituency. BJP leader said that if a person in the street indulges in such like cheating, the man is booked under law and put behind the bars. But it was strange that these politicians are no where accountable and this type of hypocracy is maligning the whole public life which should be made answerable at least for the ruling parties, he added and observed surprisingly that this Coalition had failed even to chalk out a Minimum Programme of Action as they are having their different outlook and political interests. Prof. Gupta also said that it was strange hypocracy that the ruling leaders especially those of the NC are every day pleading for settlement of issues through dialogue with Pakistan but at home these very leaders are dealing with refugees, migrants and even with their own employees with draconian laws and lathies. Terming their behaviour as despotic, BJP leader assailed the Congress-NC for postponing of the elections to the local bodies and alleged that having their roots in dynastic parties, the leaders of the Congress and NC never allowed the free flow of Indian Constitution and the functioning of the democratic institutions have been made cause of mockery. In this regard, he pointed out that during the past over sixty-two years the elections to the basic democracies including those of the civic bodies as also of Panchayats were never held in time, so much so, since independence the Panchayat Elections in the state were held only four times. The last Panchayat elections were held just partially after 23 years. Having a so-called Special Status under Article 370, in this state even voter lists were not prepared properly and unlike other parts of the country there is no Electoral Register wherein at the end of every year new claimants are added and dead are deleted. In this state, Prof. Gupta said on the eve of any election fresh electoral rolls are prepared which are full of flaws and mistakes. All this makes the poll process controversial and questionable, he maintained. Prof. Gupta impressed upon the activists to educate the masses against the evils that the Congress and the NC have brought in the society and the entire system is being brought to a dangerous situation.
