| 3 days day Group Monitoring Workshop begins at JU | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 8: To harness the potential of science students at a young age, the department of Zoology, JU in collaboration with the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance, JU organized a three day Group Monitoring Workshop and meeting of the 'Expert Panel' of the Department of Science and Technology (Government of India), 'Fast Track Scheme' for 'Young Scientists' in Life Sciences, which was inaugurated in seminar hall of the department of computer sciences, today. Vice Chancellor, JU Prof. Varun Sahni was the chief guest on the occasion. Prof. Varun Sahni complimented the Department of Science and Technology for undertaking such quality ventures, which would go a long way in promoting and harnessing the research potential of the young researchers in the area of Science and Technology. He hoped for further collaborations between the Department of Science and Technology, Govt. of India and University of Jammu for the benefit of the scientists and scholars, in particular resulting in the overall development of the nation. Dr. Ranbir Singh, Director, SERC, Department of Science and Technology (Government of India) briefed the participants about the workshop and the Fast Track Scheme for young Scientists. Prof. Kuldeep Sharma, Director, Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance and Coordinator, Group Monitoring Workshop presented the welcome address. The compendium of 'progress reports' was also released on the occasion. Member Expert Panel, Prof. B.D.Joshi, Prof. Subhash Gupta, Dean and, Faculty of Life Sciences and HOD, Zoology also addressed on the occasion. The vote of thanks was presented by Prof. M.K. Jyoti, Member Expert Panel and former Dean, faculty of Life Sciences, University of Jammu. It may be pertinent to mention that around 50 young scientists from all over the country shall be submitting their progress project reports before the expert panel, in this 3 day long workshop.
