JAMMU, Apr 8: Deputy Chief Minister, Tara Chand today convened a high level meeting of officers and took stock of the working of Housing and Urban Development Department and other urban local bodies in Jammu province.
The meeting held threadbare discussion with regard to the implementation of various Housing and Urban Development works, besides sanitation and other civic amenities being provided to the people.
While taking review of working of JMC, the Dy. Chief Minister was informed that the Corpor-ation has been able to realize a revenue of Rs 12.04 cr during the Past fiscal which is double the revenue garneted during 2008-09. Moreover, the recovery of rent arrears on account of a assets of JMC as also increased by 40% during the last financial year.
The Deputy Chief Minister, while appreciating the employees for attending their duties with dedication and devotion, directed the officers for taking more measures to keep the city of temples and other areas neat and clean and ensure that the people may not face any difficulty in this regard. He directed for effectively checking khilafwarzies and removal of encroachments, if any, promptly.
The Deputy Chief Minister directed the executing agencies to speed up pace of different works so that benefits percolate to the poorest of the poor.
