| Bhalla lauds Army's role | | | Early Times report JAMMU, Apr 8: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Mr. Raman Bhalla has said that Army was playing a vital role in augmenting various facilities to the people of the State. He said Army is doing commendable job to provide much needed service to the people especially in the border areas of the State. The Minister was speaking at a function organised by 213 Transit Camp near Gulshan Ground, here today. Commandant Artillery, Mr. Gian Singh and other senior officers and jawans of army were present on the occasion. Bhalla said that Jammu and Kashmir people have faced lot of difficulties during turmoil adding that scores of schools, bridges and other public property was damaged. He said, the Army has played a major role in reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure. He said that Army has also established women empowerment centres and vocational training centres in computer, knitting and weaving in far-flung areas of the State for poor sections of the society. Highlighting the activities of Army, the Commandant Artillery, Mr. Gian Singh apprised that army is making concerted efforts to open more army schools to provide quality education to the students of the State. Besides providing facilities like Primary Health Centres, Community Centres, installing direct to home dish antennas, telephones, libraries and indoor games in remote and border areas. Adult education facilities, electrification, water supply schemes and some other measures taken up by the Army, he added.
