| Baisakhi mela arrangements finalized | | |

Udhampur, Apr 8: Arrangements to celebrate historic 3-day Baisakhi Mela at Devika site, Udhampur, were finalized at a meeting of District Officers of various departments and prominent citizens held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ud-hampur, Nasir Iqbal Parae, here today.
It was decided in the meeting that Executive Engineer PHE would ensure barricading and drinking water arrangements while Executive Officer, Municipality for ensuring proper cleansing of the site besides First Aid-cum-Awareness camp by Health Department. Executive Engineer, PDD would ensure uninterrupted power supply during the Mela days Likewise, SSP Udhampur would ensure adequate security arrangements at mela site.
For the awareness of common masses about the different government sponsored schemes especially designed to ameliorate the socio-economic status of poor people, the departments of Health, Agriculture, Horticulture, Sheep and Animal Husbandry, Sericulture, Handloom and Handicrafts etc. would put up their departmental stalls while Tourism Department would publicize the tourism potential sites of Udhampur district.
The District Information Officer, Udhampur and Field Publicity Officer (GOI) including Coordinator, Nehru Yuva Kendra and Youth Services and Sports would arrange cultural programmes and film shows during Mela days.
