| Baisakhi festival celebrations, arrangements reviewed | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 9: To celebrate three days Baisakhi festival, meeting of various tourism related trade organizations & non government stake holders in tourism, pilgrimage & heritage, chaired by the Director Tourism S. M. Sahni held here today. Jammu Paryatan Vikas Mandal, All Jammu Hotels & Lodges Association, Jammu Hotels Restaurants & Bar Association. All Jammu Tourist Taxi Operators, Tours & Travel Association, Auto Operators Union, Hari Market Traders Association Gurudwara Sunder Singh Road Businessmen Association, Raghunath Bazar Businessmen Association, B. C. Road Deluxe Coaches Association, Travel Interna-tional Tours Operators, Tempo Operator Union, Dogra Pujari Jyotish & Shastri Sang, Shopkeepers Association Bus Stand Jammu & Deluxe Tourist Coaches Association participated in. All participants assured their full co-operation & active assistance in making three days programme a success. Festival is being held at three different places in Jammu district. On the first day, April 13 a grand colorful function will be held at Octroy Post Suchetgarh Border, from 11.00 a.m. to 6 p.m. A presentation on Border Tourism circuit will be held at the venue. On the second day, April 14, the Baisakhi day, the venue of the function will be the heritage site of Jio Potha Akhnoor, where coronation of Gulab Singh as Raja of Jammu was held. The venue is on the bank of river Chenab. Exhibition & display of adventure equipments specially water sports hover craft, rafting & boating, besides other cultural programmes will mark the high lights of the programmes on the day.On the concluding day of April 15 the activities will be held at Bagh-e-Bahu & Bahu Fort. Besides holding of cultural programmes by the local artists will highlighting cultural heritage of the State, Aarti will be held on the bank of river Tawi at Har Ki Pohri. Sahni, Arvind Kotwal Deputy Director Tourism, Ajay Sharma Deputy Director Tourism & Dr. Subash Chander Assistant Director participated in the meeting. The prominent participants from the tourism related Trade organizations included Ravi Mahajan Chairman JPVM, Inderjeet Khajuria President AJHLA, Kuldeep Wahi President Hotels Restaurants & Bar Associations & Pawan Gupta General Secretary AJHLA & representative of Hari Market Traders Association. A meeting in this connection was also held last evening, chaired by SDM R. S. Pura Sheetal Nanda and was participated by all the concerned officers in R. S. Pura Tehsil & many non officials, besides Deputy Director Tourism, to hold preparations for the programmes to be held at Suchetgarh. A similar meeting, charred by SDM Akhnoor and attended by concerned at the local level was also held to make preparations for the second day of the function to be held at Jio Potha, Akhnoor.
