Early Times Report JAMMU, Apr 9: The Inter Ministerial Central Team deputed by the Govt. of India to assess the crop damages due to drought in the State concluded its 3 days tour of the State today. During the course of their visit, the members of the team visited Srinagar and Jammu and also made field visits in several districts of the State including Jammu, Ramban, Samba and Kathua to assess the extent of damages through inter action with affected farmers besides field functionaries of the Agriculture, Horticu-lture, Rural Development, CAPD & PHE departments. The team was headed by Bijay Kumar, Managing Director, National Hortic-ulture Board and also included Sh. Y.C. Sharma, Joint Director, Deptt of Expen-diture, Sh. B. Narayanan, Director, Deptt of Rural Dev., Sh. R.M.Deshpandey, Additi-onal Advisor, Deptt of Drinking Water, Sh.G.S. Patial, Under Secretary, Deptt of Food & Public Distribution and Dr. G. K. Chaudhary, Director, Directorate of Wheat Development Ghaziabad. The team assessed the claims pertaining to relief in terms of damage to Agriculture and Horticu-lture Crops, shortage of fodder and medicines for the cattle, as also the emergency measures necessitated for providing drinking water in the drought affected areas. During their visit, the team also held extensive discussions with the concerned Secretaries to Govt, Deputy Commissioners and Directors of Agriculture of Kashmir and Jammu Division besides Directors/ Heads of the other concerned Departments. The case for provision of relief under NCRF was presented to the team by Commissioner/ Secretary to Govt, Revenue Department Sh. Ejaz Iqbal. The team also called on Chief Secretary, Sh. S. S. Kapoor before concluding the visit and conveyed their satisfaction over the arrangements made and information provided to facilitate their task during the visit.
