Bhung cultivation on 3000 kanals destroyed in Pulwama and Anantnag

Srinagar, October 14 – As a part of its drive against illegal cultivation of Bhung, the officials of the State Excise Department have destroyed the Bhung spread over about 3000 Kanals in twin districts of Anantnag and Pulwama.
The department has so far destroyed the Bhung which could yield several hundred Kgs of Charas valuing lakhs of rupees in the local market and crores of rupees in the international market.
The areas where the Bhung was destroyed include Tulkhan, Melhore, Kolpora, Achan, Grawgung, Khilan, Hassanpora, Tikibal, Kawini, Wachi, Dopatyar, Simthan, Loktipora and Frisal.
The officials of State Excise department were co-operated by the Police and Revenue departments. The cultivators of Bhung are once again requested to destroy the Bhung themselves failing which the department will destroyed it itself and book the culprits under provisions of Excise Act.
