| UKF condemns damaging of Shiv Temple, ridicules administration | | | Early Times Report Srinagar, Apr 9: United Kashmiriyat Forum (UKF) strongly condemned recent damage caused to Basant Bag Shiv Temple by miscreants interested in scaring left over community members in valley and compel them to migrate once again. Members criticized misdeed carried by certain elements and lambasted district administration for its failure to safeguard recently renovated temple, adjoining single storied residential building-Satsang hall. An FIR in this connection on April 7 with Police station Kral Khud alleging therein the damage of window panes and doors of recently renovated structure of Shiv temple Basantbag Srinagar stands lodged. Chairman UKF- Bharat Raina said that despite repeated requests to authorities, no steps have been taken to ensure the safety of the religious structures. He said that renovation work of the structures was done by the UKF in collaboration with the Department of Tourism at the cost of rupees seven lakh but the miscreants at the behest of vested interests damaged the structures wasting all the hard work. He said that the misdeed will also sabotage the Government move for return of Pandits to Kashmir, adding that such wicked activities would discourage the community members from returning to Valley. Raina made an appeal to C.M Omar Abdulah to intervene so that culprits could be punished and religious places are protected.
