Rs 205 cr being spent on 45 projects in Baramulla:Charrak

Baramulla, October 14 – Work on about 45 developmental projects involving an amount of Rs 205 crore taken up under various sectors is apace in Baramulla District.
This was stated today during an engineers meeting at Baramulla convened by Minister for Roads and Buildings Mr Gulchain Singh Charak to review the progress achieved under various development programmes taken up in the district for the welfare of the people.
The meeting said that an expenditure of Rs 65 crore was incurred during last financial year till ending March on these projects completing construction of 176 kms of road under district sector and BADP. Work on seven roads taken up under PMGSY is also in full swing, the meeting said.
Work on four roads, 2 bridges, 2 degree colleges 2, public health centres and 18 buildings have been taken up on double shift system of which 2 bridges at Kunzer and Naidkhai have been completed at a total cost of Rs 10 crore.
Besides MLA Sangrama, Mr Shoaib Ahmed Lone and MLC Abdul Gani Vakil, Chief Engineer R&B, Mr N.A. Shah, Joint Director Planning Mr Bhagat, General Manager JKPCC, District development Commissioner Baramulla Mr Baseer Ahmad Khan and ADDC Baramulla and engineers of the district were also present.
It was given out that for completion of various works for Baramulla and Sopore hospitals, Rs 13 crore have been released to JKPCC. Similarly Rs 4.50 crore are being spent on the construction of 3 public health centres at Sharakwara, Ashtingoo and Tujersharief.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister exhorted upon the engineers to speed up the implementation of various schemes so that the benefit of 3 schemes reach down to the people.
He said that due to in efficiency of some executing agencies construction works could not be completed in targeted time resulting in escalation of project cost. He said delay in completion deprives the people of the benefits of the schemes. He asked the officers to use their professional skills and devise mechanism to streamline the present system of functioning. He said that government is committed to uplift the socio-economic standard of the people. He said that a new era of development has dawned in the state with the help of people and present coalition government is serious to take the developments to hitherto neglected rural and border areas.
He asked the ADDC to closely monitor the works being executed and ensure that quality of the works is maintained.
MLA Mr. Shoaib Lone impressed upon the officers to complete the ongoing works on priority presently going in his constituency so that people get the early benefits.
MLC Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil emphasised the need for accelerating the tempo of works for overall development of the state.
