| 13 employees' leaders arrested in Jammu | | Crisis deepens: Strike enters 6th day | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 9: Tightening its noose around the striking employees, the Police today detained 13 employees' leaders from different parts of Jammu province as the ongoing strike of employees entered sixth consecutive day today. The arrest of more employees took the total number to 113 across the State. Undeterred by arrests and invoking of Essential Services Maintenance Ordinance (ESMO), employees continued their strike successfully across the state crippling entire administrative set-up including functioning of civil secretariat. Meanwhile, a local court granted bail to three employees who were arrested by the police under ESMO for mobilizing the employees. Special Excise Mobile Magistrate Suneet Gupta granted bail to three employees including President Laboratory Technician who were arrested by the police under 3/7 ESMA and 188 RPC. Court directed SHO Police Station Gandhi Nagar to release Marks Gill, Santosh Kumar and Suresh Kumar Kichloo from the custody after obtaining personal bond from them as the bail to tune of Rs 7000 each and accepted by the Court. Health services have been worst hit with patients preferring private clinics and hospitals over visiting Government Medical College Hospitals (GMCH) and their allied hospitals in both regions. Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) condemned the attitude of the State Government which, it alleged, has been publishing the wrong information under the caption "Employees Strike, Just Think" in all the newspapers being circulated in the J&K State on which a huge expenditure is being made by the Government to mislead the general public and gain their sympathies. "The purported exaggerated figures mentioned in the said advertisement are nothing but bundle of lies. Do the public know how much amount has been spent on the renovation, furnishing and fixture of the residential and official accommodations of the Chief Minister, and Ministers during the previous as well as present regimes. The JCC stressed upon the Government to release all arrested State Government employees unconditionally by revoking the ESMA.
