Early Times Report
Udhampur, Apr 10: Questioning the rationale behind the BJP’s bandh call on Friday against the IDR bill Jammu and National Panthers Party, MLA and party president Balwant Singh Mankotia said that party has always stood against the interests of Jammu inside the assembly while taking an opposite stand in the public. He said that a confused Bharatiya Janata Party presented a divided state of affairs of its ideology inside and outside the assembly over the passing of the controversial Bill seeking ban on inter-district recruitment.
Terming the passing of Amended Inter-District Recruitment(IDR) Bill as a victory of the people of Jammu and National Panthers Party, Mankotia has questioned the stand of inter-District recruitment bill.
Addressing a press conference here today, Balwant Singh Mankotia The pandemonium within the cadre started in the Floor of the House when BJP Legislature party leader Chaman Lal Gupta firstly termed the ban as unconstitutional only to later create a furor as the Speaker defended the Bill moved by Panther Party’s leader Harsh Dev and
pressed through the government’s amendment.
Though the BJP had given a strong warning to fight tooth and nail against government’s move to pass the Bill, and have called for Jammu bandh which turned out to be complete shutdown, Chaman Lal’s immediate shift of stance to impress upon the House about his own contribution while seeking credit for the partial amendment in SC’s favour mooted
by him left the party’s credibility on stake.
Later in media briefing outside, Gupta in the same breath condemning the passing of the Bill also ‘welcomed’ the decision favoring the SCs, Mankotia said adding the BJP president Shamsher Singh meanwhile out rightly condemned passing of the Bill.
Mankotia said further said that BJP in 1998 opposed Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University Bill while supported the ban on Delimitation Commission which has debarred the Jammu region of its due share in legislature and parliament also.
He said that Pantherts Party started the movement for amendment in IDR bill in 2007 and has succeeded in 2010 while BJP has always ditched the people of Jammu at the need of hour. He asked the BJP to clarify its policies on Jammu region.
