| HRW hails CM's offer for talks with employees | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 10: The chairman Human Right Watch (HRW) J&K state BL Kapoor has welcomed the announcement of chief minister for opening of doors for the employees to hold talks with regards to settlement of their demands especially release of arrears of the salaries as per sixth pay commission report which were pending since 2006. Kapoor said that India a secular country as well as democratic country in the world and every citizen has the right to raise his voice against violation of rights and the strikes and agitations are simply a process of expressing the grievances. The employees have been on strike for the last a week to press their demands. Due to continuously strike, the government offices have been closed and the work paralysed badly affecting a common man who suffers a lot. The arrears of the salaries are the right of the employees and employees cannot be deprived of this right. Giving reference of the central government of India, Kapoor said that millions of crores of rupees have been provided to the state of Jammu and Kashmir for the development, progress, and normalcy as well as prosperity. It is unfortunate that the employees of the state government and semi government have not been considered favourably well in time inspite of repeatedly memorandums submitted by the employees time to time through Press, media etc for release of arrears of sixth pay commission report. The arrears of the salaries though comes to huge amount and government feels a burden in releasing at once but there are solutions for its disbursement, as usually done in the past, the arrears were released in installments and the salaries prepared along with. |
