| World mental health day held | | |
JAMMU, OCTOBER 14 -An awareness programme to commemorate the World Mental Health Day was organized on 14th of October 14, 2006 at psychiatric diseases Hospital (GMC) Jammu under the chairmanship of Sh. Subash Chander Gupta Chairman District Legal services authority (Principal District. and Sessions judge) Jammu.
On this occasion Principal Medical College Jammu Dr. Rajinder Singh, Dr. Jagdish Raj Thappa HoD psychiatry GMC Jammu and Dr. Romesh Gupta Medical Superintendent psy. Diseases hospital Jammu informed the patients and the judicial officers as well as para-medical staff who were present on the occasion about the steps being taken by them to render requisite medical facilities and other preventive measures for the well fare of the patients. Thy also discussed this year’s Medical Health Theme “Building awareness reducing risks suicide and mental illness”.
District and Sessions Judge Jammu Sh. Subash Chander Gupta made the gathering aware about the legal and human rights of mentally ill patients. He also implored the judicial officers. Doctors and para-medical staff to treat the mentally ill people with compassion, sensitivity and care Sh. Sanjay Dhar Chief judicial magistrate and Dr. Vinod Dhar medical officer besides other doctors and judicial officers of Jammu headquarter were also present on the occasion.
Later on the doctors and the judicial officers present on the occasion visited the in patient wards and distributed fruits amongs the patients. |
