Jammu, Apr 11: The campus of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU) was buzzing with the annual cultural and sports festival 'Resurgence 2010', the three day gala event, organized from 8th to 10th of April symbolizes the celebration of life and rejuvenation at SMVDU. More than hundred students from Islamic University of Science and Technology (lUST), Kashmir, Jammu University (JU), MIET, GCW Gandhi Nagar, GMC, IECS, Commerce College and MAM College, Jammu participated in the festival. The event was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of SMVDU, Prof. R.N.K. Bamezai, who in his inaugural address, greeted the participants of Resurgence and said that such events provide an opportunity to hone and exhibit the cultural, literary and sports skills of students and function as great stress busters also. Resurgence 201 0 was an amalgam of literary, cultural and sports activities. It began with a Rangoli competition, followed by a series of events related to Music, Dance, Theatre, Literary and Fine Arts. Dances like Solo dance, Folk dance and Ballad, Still Life Sketching, Mono Acting, Hasya/Vyangya kavya, to name a few, were the main attractions. Blending the cultural activities with sports, the students enthusiastically participated in sports events like Long jump, High Jump, Fatta Cricket, Kho-Kho etc. After having intramural competitions, the students of SMVDU set to complete with the students from various Institutions for the cultural events. The Inter-University competitions took place on 10 April, JU bagged the Chancellor's Trophy for winning maximum Gold medals in various cultural events. Festival concluded on April 10, while Padam Shri Dr. Jitendra Udhampuri was the Guest of Honour fm the valedictory function.
