4/12/2010 12:24:29 AM
Early Times Report
Jammu , April 11
Jammu Joint Students’ Federation (JJSF), in support of agitation by employees, emphasized that the demands of the employees are quite genuine and the govt. cannot save itself form its duties by giving advertisements in the papers against the employees terming the demands of the employees as unjustified. President Pushvinder Singh Manhas said that the govt. cannot gain the sympathy of the people by using such tactics and the JJSF is fully supporting the demands of the employees.

He said that the govt. of one coalition or the other always talked about the Greater Autonomy or the Self-Rule, but it is a matter of surprise as to how the govt. could fulfill the needs of the people of the whole state when it is unable to pay the arrears and other dues to the employees. Terming the implementation of ESMA as wrong and un-constitutional and demanded that the arrested employees should be released immediately as they have not violated any law but were protesting for their genuine demands. “Our country has a democratic set up and each citizen of this country has a right to protest for their genuine demands and no body can stop them for doing this”. He appealed the employees that though JJSF is in full support of the employees, but they should not stop the essential services as the people are facing problems due to such stoppage of work. The timely admissions of the students are being hampered because of this agitation, since results of secondary level has been out and the students are in need of transfer certificates and mark sheets etc for admission in different schools. Similarly it should be taken care that medical facilities be not disturbed and a few employees be deputed on such essential services so that the common man does not suffer.

Pushvinder Singh showed the anguish against some political parties who are showing the double standards. He said that some political parties gave the Bandh call against the controversial Inter-district Recruitment Bill and the same was supported by the people overwhelmingly as a result of which the bandh was a complete success but on the other hand when this controversial bill was being passed in the assembly, the same parties did not opposed this bill and preferred to keep mum. Such double standard should be checked and the political parties should make their stand clear.
