| Azad credited for J&K doctor’s rise to AIIMS top body | | |

NEW DELHI, APR 11: Eyebrows have been raised at the recent appointment of Dr AH Zargar as a member of the top-most administrative body of All India Institute of Medical Sciences. Dr Zargar is Director of Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences.
The controlling authority of the AIIMS administrative body rests with the Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad. And Dr Zargar’s appointment on the body is being attributed to his closeness to the Minister. This is more so since both hail from the State of Jammu and Kashmir.
Media reports have been critical of the appointment saying that though Dr Zargar is a senior specialist of endocrinology he has been given the prestigious nomination to the top 17-member AIMMS body because of his closeness to Azad.
After his nomination he joins the administrative body of the AIIMS that has leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, veteran Congress leader RK Dhawan and Vice Chancellor of Delhi University Professor Deepak Pental among others. |
