| Stern action against such schools: CEO | | |
Taking cognizance of the complaints about charging exorbitant amount and selling uniforms and other stationary items by the private schools, the School Education Department has constituted “surprise checking squads” to take appropriate action against the school management “harassing” the parents and charging exorbitant.
“The office of Deputy Commissioner Jammu in association with school education department have constituted surprise checking squads to keep a vigil over the malpractice of selling of books and other stationary items by the private schools at higher rates,” Natha Ram, Chief Education Officer (CEO) Jammu told Early Times.
He however, admitted that the private schools have developed a nexus with business houses who are fleecing the parents by charging exorbitant amount from them and suggested the parents to move the consumer court against any such malpractice.
The CEO said, “We have directed the private schools to constitute Parent Teaches Body (PTB) in schools and any decision with regard to hike in school fee would be taken with the consent of the parents.
“Until and unless they don’t constitute PTB in their schools and seek consent from the parents before any fee hike, we will not confirm their results. Even they have been directed to produce safety certificate before the department,” he maintained.
“Any school which violates the norms would be liable for stern action including cancellation of its affiliation,” he asserted. |
