| ANC criticizes coalition government for its failure to fulfill commitment | | |
Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 12: Criticizing the coalition Govt. in Jammu & Kashmir State for its failure to fulfill its commitments towards the demands of the employees (both Govt. and PSU's), The J&K Awami National Conference (ANC) has urged all political parties to come forward in hammering out a formula to the satisfaction of the aggrieved employees. Senior Vice President of Awami National Conference, Muzzafar Shah in a statement today said that it is unfortunate that the Govt. had entered into an agreement with the representatives of the employees on payment of their arrears, removing pay anomalies etc, but the administration backed out from its own promise forcing the employees to go on strike. If the Govt. was aware that it had no resources to meet the demand of employees on the arrear front, why did it enter into an agreement with them? The Govt. should have envisaged, in advance, that it would not be able to find the funds to meet these demands. In fact, the Government should have planned for developing resources for the seventh pay commission which is likely to be in force from 2014, but the bankruptcy on part of the coalition Govt. especially those who are holding the key portfolios of Planning & Finance in this state which has been in turmoil for more than two decades now. The employees strike, which has paralyzed the Govt. for more than a week now, is not being addressed in a positive manner and even imposition of ESSMA is going to recoil back on the Govt. with for reaching consequences, Shah said. Commenting on the inter district Recruitment bill, ANC, Leader said that, again the coalition Govt. has acted imprudently as this legislation is likely to lead to regionalism & sub-regionalism. The state is yet to recover from the wounds inflicted on Amarnath's Shrine Board Episode and bringing this law would again create wedge between different sections of our already fragile society. It has also an adverse potential of creating deep fissures between the regions of the state as also within the districts of the state. Muzzafar Shah further stated that prudence demanded to continue reservation of classes like ST's, SC's , RBA's, ALC's & other OBC's as per the constitutional guarantees provided to them. Shah said that the role of legislators in the assembly was not to the satisfaction of the masses. Instead of raising public interest issues and seeking redressal of the grievances of the common masses, it has been observed that the legislators were only busy slinging mud on each other for vote bank politics, ignoring the large interest of the state and its people.
