| HC directs JU to issue roll number to petitioner | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 12 : High Court came to the rescue of a student of Government College for Women Gandhi Nagar, who was not allowed to sit in the final examination of BA after it directed to issue the examination roll number to the petitioner forthwith enabling her to appear in BA Part III annual examination of 2010. This significant order passed by Justice Virender Singh in a petition filed by Sonika Devi versus University of Jammu & Others in which the petitioner submitted that since she had changed the combination from History to Hindi, the hindrance created by the respondents, she would not be allowed to sit in the final examination, according to Adv Rupinder Singh appearing for the petitioner that this all would adversely affect her career whereas she had changed the subject on the asking of the respondents only. The urgency projected is that examination is to be conducted on April 13, 2010 and respondents are not issuing her the examination roll number. Upon this Court issued notice to the respondents' returnable within two weeks and directed that until further order respondents to issue the examination roll number to the petitioner forthwith enabling her to appear in the BA Part III Annual Examination of 2010. It is made clear that this order would not tilt any equity of in favour of the petitioner if ultimately she is not successful on merits of the case. --(JNF)
