Kishtwar emerging new tourist circuit: Saroori

KISHTWAR, Apr 12: Minister for R&B GM Saroori has said that Kishtwar would emerge as a tourist circuit once the proposed inter State road link between Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir is completed. He said the route would go a long way in boosting religious and adventure tourism in the State, particularly, in Paddar and Kishtwar areas. He said Himachal Pradesh would get direct road link with the Srinagar via Keller-Sansari-Sohwal-Paddar-Kishtwar through proposed Vailoo- Singhpora tunnel. This route will be most beneficial for the devotees coming for Amarnathji and Machail Yatras as it reduces 12 hours journey from Himchal Pradesh. Minister was addressing a series of public meetings here today after laying foundation of several road and bridge projects in Kishtwar district which include 14 km Gulabgarh-Ligri road coming up at a cost of Rs 8.62 crore, 13 km Plai- Machal road costing Rs 1 crore and 16 km Shivas-Gardhari road to be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 86.62 lacs.
The Minister also laid foundation of 73 meter long Kukendar bridge being constructed over Bootnallh at a cost of Rs 1.64 lacs, 31 meter long foot suspension bridge at Sazer nallah coming up at a cost of Rs 42 lacs and Layee-Paddar bridge costing Rs 92 lacs. He also released Rs 5 lac for construction of additional 2 km at Dool Batpora road
Saroori said that Government is aware about the problems of the people living in far flung and remote areas of the State, adding that every effort is being made to mitigate the public problems and added Government has launched several welfare schemes. in the State and appealed people to come forward to take the benefits of such schemes.
He asked the district administration to launch an awareness campaign in the district, particularly in hilly areas and sensitize people about the welfare schemes run by the Government in different sectors.
Responding to the demands of the people, Saroori said that there is need of opening a college at Marwah and assured people that the matter would be brought to the notice of Chief Minister.
Saroori said that a Dak Bungalow would be constructed at Machal.
Minister released Rs 9 lakh for construction of two Cradle bridges over river Chenab and asked the Engineers to start work soon.
Member Parliament Lal Singh also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the programmes and policies of the Coalition Government.
He said efforts would be made to bring Padder and Kishtwar on the railway map of the country for which he would take up the matter with the Union Railway Minister shortly.
