| JAK Dharmarth trust add to facilities for pilgrims to Devika | | | EARLY TIMKES REPORTER JAMMU | JULY 24 Thousands of devotees drawn form all parts of the Jammu region and parts of the Punjab and Himachal Pradesh states today held the holy dip in river Devika at Purumandal and Uttrbehani on account of the Somavati Amavasiya. From times immemorial, the holy river Devika, flowing underground near Purumandal and Utterbehani purifies the souls of devotees who take a dip in it. According to the Nilamputran, Devika is the incarnation of Bhagwati Uma, consort of lord Shiva. The Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust since it’s setting up have constructed several temples of lord Shiva for worship on the bank of the river Devika en-route Purumandal to Uttarbehani. To ensure best management of these temples, Trust has detailed adequate number of staff. As per instructions of the Chairman Trustee, Mahraja Padam Vibhushan , Dr. Karan Singh Ji, staffs posted at he pilgrimages have been directed to ensure all every requirement of the pilgrims. They have specially been directed to ensure all comforts and give courteous treatment to devotees while they pay a visit at the temples, stated president of the Jammu and Kashmir Dharmarth Trust, Th. Divarka Singh. He said that for the facilities for devotees, Trust has constructed a modern sarai adjacent to the ancient temple of lord Shiva at Purumandal. More than two hundred devotees can make their brief stay in the double strayed building sarai at a time in peak days of pilgrim. The sarai has recently has been renovated and improved on the directions of the Trustee for comfort of pilgrims. In order to provide separate and proper bathing facilities to women, management of the Trust had put up makeshift bathing ghats at the pilgrimages this year, Th. Divarka Singh said. He said that the Trust is contemplating to add more facilities and comforts for devotees who visit these shrines in the coming years.
