| SDM's wife escapes from hotel, alleged paramour detained | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, April 12: While a woman managed to give cops a slip, her alleged paramour was detained by police in a city hotel late Sunday night. Police said one Amit Goel of Link Road was allegedly running an affair with a woman, which his wife Deepmala objected to. Yesterday when she came to know that Amit and the woman were together in a luxury hotel on Samadhian Road, she reached there along with her family members at about 9.30 pm and caught both of them together, police added. When Deepmala created a scene in the hotel, the woman fled the spot. Police said the woman’s husband was posted as sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) in somewhere district of Jammu and Kashmir. Before coming to the hotel, Amit's wife had lodged a complaint against him with the Peer Mitha police station. After the woman escaped, police took Amit to the Peer Mitha police station. His wife alleged he was released by police later and allowed to go home. Police said though the woman’s in-laws hailed from Trikuta Nagar, her parents lived near Tehsil Office here. When contacted, Peer Mitha police station SHO, DySP (probationary) Zulfikar said Amit had not been arrested as his was a non-cognizable offence. He said efforts were being made for a patch-up between Goel and his wife. However, when all efforts of a patch-up failed, Deepmala gave a press conference in the evening, alleging that Amit and his parents had been torturing her mentally and physically since her marriage 10 years back. She alleged that her husband had illicit relations with several women. "I was forced to leave my in-laws' house at Link Road on February 13 this year. She said Amit enjoyed good clout in police because of one Chauhan. "Despite that I hope Peer Mitha police will help me get justice," she added.
