| NPP legislators hold meeting in New Delhi | | Employees strike | |
EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 14: Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP) has expressed satisfaction over the recent development in the State wherein, it said, the state government was forced to give time bound assurances to the employees for release of arrears and redressal of other grievances. A meeting of NPP legislators was held in New Delhi today under the chairmanship of Harsh Dev Singh, Leader of the Legislature Party which discussed the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir. The meeting was attended by party MLAs including Balwant Singh Mankotia, Yashpal Kundal and Syed Rafiq Shah, MLC. Harsh Dev Singh claimed that it was in pursuance of the party MLAs protests and demonstrations in New Delhi and memorandums submitted by them to Union Government Ministers that the latter prevailed upon the State government to make immediate announcements. Singh said that the State government was forced to commit the time bound implementation of agreement and release of arrears of government employees due to the pressure mounted by the Union government. He cautioned the State government to fulfill the commitments made as per the revised schedule failing which the NPP would launch a full throttle offensive and agitation for ouster of the State government. The NPP MLAs further demanded unconditional release and withdrawal of all cases against the employees who were participating in the agitation. The NPP MLAs, who had earlier planned to seek appointment with President of India for seeking invocation of Section 92 of the Constitution of J&K and ouster of the government for failure of the administrative and financial machinery of the State, postponed their programme in view of the latest developments.
