JAMMU, Apr 14: 39 Degrees Celsius temperature has developed hope of respite from scorching heat wave as Metrological experts predicted that, though, there are no signals of respite in heat wave as per the weather observations obtained but isolated and scattered rain showers are likely to occur in state from April 15 onwards any time.
Rain showers couple of days earlier at 42 Degree Celsius have proved as adding of fuel to fire. It was expected that after showers temperature would dip to provide respite from heat waves. But instead of dipping, mercury is increasing with every passing day. Metrological scientists are of view that a fresh west disturbance has started and would likely hit the Himalayan region any time from Thursday which will result in raining till April 17. According to Metrological Department (MD) lowest West coast disturbances is reason behind scarcity of rains which in turn causes heat wave across region. Delhi has broken record of past five years as it crossed 41-42 Degrees Celsius which is above 6 Degrees normal and Valley has recorded 23 Degree maximum which 4 Degrees above normal.
Even night temperature across region has increased by 4-5 Degrees. Central, Northwest and Northern parts of country are reeling under heat wave from the first week of month, which indicates that heat wave will keep increasing in the months to come ahead. People are concerned and scared about how to deal with heat wave in the months to come.
Doctors also see heat wave as concerning because diarrhea, sunstroke, snakebites and water borne diseases occur in hot Season.
Senior Physician Dr. Kapil advised that people should take care of proper sanitation and restrict to go out to sun frequently besides take measures to avoid dehydration. He advised that in case of any problem occurs patient should be rushed to health centre nearby for treatment.
"Business certainly gets affected during the hot season as people prefer to remain indoors due to heat. This year temperature has risen abruptly and before the time. Such heat was expected in the month of May ending or June beginning" said Rattan Gupta a shopkeeper.
He said that business has already faced a jolt due to strikes and bandhs and now summer seemingly is going to be not so good.
