Romesh visits Jammu City orders for additional water tankers

Jammu, Oct 14 : Minister of state for Public health engineering and flood control Dr Romesh Chander Sharma today visited different areas of Jammu and took stock of drinking water being supplied through tankers.
Minister who was accompanied by corporater ward No 24 Arun Khanna Executive Engineer City-I, Prem Pal, PHE employee’s leader Shiv Kumar visited Rehari Colony, Lower Sarwal and Subash Nagar area and interacted with the people of the area. The Minister was told that the water supply of the area was affected after the old intake pump house of sitili was damaged due to flash floods and the short fall is being covered by the connectivity of newly dugged bore wells.
The minister said that the coalition government is committed to provide clean portable drinking water to the people of the state particularly those areas which are still to be connected properly.
Minister issue on spot directions to the engineers to enhance the number of the water Tankers for the areas affected due to the collapse of intake pump house at sitili. The Minister was informed that new bore wells are being connected with the service lines of these areas with in couple of weeks to over come the scarcity of water in these areas.
The minister assured the public that after the completion of Pump house at sitili and commissioning of Bhoria Filtration plant, jammu will become self sufficient in drinking water. He said and added that by 2009 every village of the state would get clean drinking water.
Minister personally monitored the supplying of water being made through fire brigade to the congested areas of Rehari colony and Subash Nagar area of the city and listen to the problems of the people of the area. The minister directs Executive Engineer city division -I to ensure proper water supply to all the mohallas of the area and to speed up the work so that the new bore wells are connected soon.
The minister appreciated the working of the PHE department and said that it was only due to the day night working of the engineers and workers of the department that Jammu city come out of the water short fall caused due to the recent damage to the filtration plant.
