Peerzada asks teaching fraternity to discharge duties with a missionary spirit

POONCH, OCTOBER 14: Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Information Technology, Haj and Auqaf Peerzada Mohammad Sayeed today called upon the officers of education department to discharge their duties with missionary spirit and devote their service for the cause of the children who are responsible citizens of tomorrow. Peerzada was addressing in a district and zonal officers and principal of various educational institutions of Poonch district.
District Development Commissioner Poonch Mr M R Thakur, Director School Education was among the officers present in the meeting. Member Parliament Ch Mohd Aslam and Yash Pal Sharma Jammu and Kashmir General Secretary of J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (I) also attended the meeting.
Taking strong note over the slow pace of development, the Minister exhorted upon the officers to be sincere toward their duties and redouble their efforts development works for which they have been provided sufficient funds for construction of school buildings and additional class room for the larger interest of the school going children.
Earlier, DDC Poonch gave a resume of the achievements of the department and informed the meeting that as many as, 92969 male and female students from primary education to 10+2 have been literate during the last fiscal year which is nearly 60 percent of the total population of the district.
Responding to the demands and requirements of the department the Minister assured to redress the genuine demands.
Saying that steps initiated by the government in education are yielding tangible results, the Minister has expressed hops that the state will soon witness revolution in education department. He said opening of seven University campus, 22 degree colleges and up gradation of hundred of primary, middle, high and higher secondary schools across the state would go a long way in achieving the target of hundred percent literacy.
The Minister who is on 2-day tour of twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch was addressing a well attended public meeting at Poonch town.
The Minister said that opening of prestigious Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah Technical University would catalyze the development of Rajouri and Poonch districts as the pass outs of the institutes would find ready employment opportunity in corporate as well as government sectors both within and out side the state.
