| Prof Ramnath Shastri remembered | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Apr 15: Rich tributes were paid to doyen of Dogri literature, Prof Ramnath Shastri at a function organized by the Dogri Sanstha on the occasion of his birthday here today. The function was attended by a large number of writers, intellectuals, scholars and prominent citizens. President of Dogri sanstha, Prof Lalit Magotra in his introductory remarks said that Prof. Shastri was instrumental in writing the first page of history of Dogri literature by laying the foundation of Dogri Sanstha exactly 66 years back along with a few of his contemporary writers. He said contribution of Prof Shastri is unique and outstanding and the direction that he provided to the dogri literary movement. To ensure a wholesome development of Dogri literature he contributed in almost every genre of literature. He set benchmarks in these genres by his high quality writings for others to follow. Prof. Magotra said that he was an example of true dedication and devotion towards his mother-tongue. The film screened on the occasion has been directed by K Sudesh Verma. Those who recited their poems in the Kavi-Sammelan include Champa Sharma, Virendra Kesar, Jitender Udhampuri, Ganeshwar, Darshan Darshi, Om Vidyarthi, Surendra Manhas, Susheel Begana, Usha Kiran, Randhir Raipura, Puran Chand Badgotra, Sham Talib, Yash Raina, Sandeep Dubey, Ratna Doshi, Bansi Lal etc. Veena Gupta of Dogri Sanstha thanked the audience and said that Dogri is fortunate that under the leadership of Prof. Ram Nath Shastri remained a pillar of strength and source of inspiration for all the Dogri writers who rallied around him.
