| Reasi to get polytechnic college : Chib | | | Early Times Report Jammu April 16: Minister for Medical Education, Youth Services & Sports, Prof R. S. Chib today inaugurated youth hostel at Talwara, Reasi and formally handed over its keys to the department of Youth Services & Sports.
The hostel complex spreading over 8 kanals, was constructed by the Army under Operation Sadhbhawna which comprises a block for Gujjar & Bakerwal students, Primary Health Centre (PHC) and another block for students who come here for sports activities.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Chib expressed gratitude to army for construction of this complex and said it would be a centre of sports activities as the area has vast potential of sports like water sports, climbing, trekking and mountaineering.
The Minister said that the hostel would also provide accommodation facilities to the students belonging to remote areas and downtrodden sections of the society. He said, in addition, the PHC would also provide health care facilities to the people of the area.
Prof. Chib said that the land available in front of the hostel would be developed as multi-purpose playfield. He directed the concerned authorities to initiate plantation around the field while developing the same.
The Minister said that the Government is contemplating to open a polytechnic College for imparting technical education to the youth.
Earlier, the students from various schools presented colourful cultural programme on the occasion.
Later, the Minister chaired a meeting of officers of Institute of Management Committee (IMC) of Industrial Training Institute (ITI) and directed for early completion of ITI building Reasi. He asked the DDC for providing necessary facilities required in implementation of skill development programme.
The Minister also inspected the proposed site for sports stadium, coming up at a cost of Rs. 868.48 lakh at Reasi.
Member of Legislative Assembly, Mr. Baldev Raj also spoke on the occasion and said that two more stadia would be developed to promote sports activities in the district for which land has already been identified.
Among others, Former Minister, Mr. Yashpal Khajuria, Director General, Youth Services & Sports, Mr. S. A. Leharwal, District Development Commissioner, Reasi, Mr. P. K. Pole, Director, Technical Education, Mr. Rather, Director, Youth Services & Sports, Mr. G. M. Dar and other district officers were also present on the occasion. |
