| AIYS deputation meets Governor | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, APRIL 16 - A deputation of the All India Yog Sansthan called on the Governor, Mr. N. N. Vohra, at Raj Bhavan, here today. The Governor discussed with the deputationists the activities of the Sansthan and observed that the Sansthan could contribute very significantly by starting Yoga classes for children to keep them physically and mentally fit.
The Governor, while interacting with the deputation, stressed the need for creating awareness among the younger generation against alcoholism, drug addiction and other habits which would have a deleterious affect on their future careers. He also emphasized the need for generating awareness among the people about the varied State and the Centrally sponsored schemes which are being implemented for the speedy socio-economic development. Such awareness would, hopefully, discourage negative attitudes among the youth.
The Governor mentioned that both the Agricultural Universities of the State have been asked to prepare area specific projects in the key sectors of agriculture, horticulture, floriculture, animal and sheep husbandry, beekeeping, poultry, etc. which have very high potential of generating employment avenues and boosting the economy of the State.
The deputation led by the former Member of Parliament, Mr. Janak Raj Gupta, presented to the Governor a set of the publications of the Sansthan.
The Principal Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Raj Kumar Goyal, was present on the occasion.
The deputation comprised Mr. B. R. Gupta, Dr. Yog Raj Padha, Mr. V. K. Soni and Mr. Sat Pal Sharma. |
