| Dr. Jitendra Udhampuri meets Governor | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 16: The renowned writer and former Director, Radio Kashmir, Jammu, Dr Jitendra Udhampuri called on the Governor, NN Vohra, at Raj Bhavan, here today.
Dr Udhampuri has been recently honoured with the Padma Shri Award for his outstanding contribution to Literature and Education.
Governor congratulated Dr Udhampuri for the recognition of his valuable contribution to the enrichment of Dogri, Hindi and Punjabi languages besides literature. He discussed the over two dozen books which have been authored by Dr Udhampuri, and particularly referred to the excellent history of Dogri language and literature which he had published after several years of hard work.
Dr Udhampuri is the recipient of several state as well as national level honours and awards. Among the 25 books written by him during the past nearly five decades, 19 are in Dogri, 5 in Hindi and 1 in Punjabi. He was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1988 for his well known work titled “Ik Shehar Yaaden Da”.
Dr Udhampuri presented to the Governor his latest volume of poems in Dogri, “Duggar Nama”.
Governor wished Dr Udhampuri continuing success in his literary pursuits, and good health and happiness in the coming years.
