RAJOURI, Apr 17: The officers' mess of 58 GREF was gutted in a massive fire at Badone here this afternoon. Though the property worth lakhs was destroyed, there was no loss of life in the incident.
The fire, which broke out at about 2 pm, engulfed the whole building within no time. It was reduced to ashes within two hours, according to eyewitnesses. GREF's Maj Ashok said fire broke out due to electric short-circuit in the mess. "As it was mostly made of wood, fire soon spread in whole of the building, burning it completely," he added.
Even as fire tenders reached the spot on time, they could not save the building from burning.
