| Gujjars-Bakerwals being cheated for their share by PSC | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 17: Alleging deliberate discrimination by Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission with Gujjar and Bakerwal candidates under Scheduled Tribe category, J&K Gujjar-Bakerwal Joint Forum- castigated authorities for making counterfeit selection under tribal category neglecting Gujjars-Bakerwals a major group under ST in selection lists notified by PSC during last few months. State President, Gujjar Forum, Haji Shamsher Ali Boken alleged that PSC authorities during last few months are bent upon to suppress the rights of Gujjars who fall under reserved ST category and selecting others on cast of their tribe which is unjust and intolerable . He said that the particular tribe constitute 80% of total tribal population in State but they are getting share less than 20% among ST categories and PSC is playing a major role in suppressing the rights of Gujjar and Bakerwal candidates who appears before selection committees for posts fall under Gazatted rank. Forum alleged that other tribes who constitute around 20% present of total tribal population of J&K are getting 80% share under ST category and it's because of PSCs New policies against Gujjars. "We are demanding social justice from PSC authorities as the present attitude of Commission is highly objectionable and against the law of social equality among tribes" said Boken and without naming anybody also alleged that one of the newly nominated member of Public Service Commission who belongs to Shina tribe of Gureze has reportedly favouring his tribe in a number of selections made by PSC during last few months. Quoting the example of lists of English Lecturer, Haji said under ST Category total 14 candidates were selected 7 belongs to Shina tribe of Gureze and Kargil. In the same list only 2 candidates belongs to Gujjar Bakerwal tribe and as per share Gujjars deserves 10 out of 14, he added. In Zology list , he said, total 12 candidate were selected under ST category but no selected candidates belongs to Gujjar Bakerwal Tribe. In another list issued by PSC yesterday in Education, Boken said total 14 candidate selected under ST category only 3 belongs to Gujjars. Boken said that they are going meet Chief Minister against discriminatory attitude of PSC authorities towards Gujjars.
