| Conservation of pilgrim spots priority of Govt: Jora | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 17: Asserting that exploitation of pilgrim tourism in the state is the priority of the Government, the Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora has said that tourism ministry has taken up a number of conservation and restoration projects at different pilgrimage sites across the state. This was stated by the Minister during his visit to various pilgrim spots of Jammu city today, while interacting with the media persons. The Minister said the Government is contemplating to restore pristine glory of revered Raghunathji Temple where thousands of pilgrims visit daily. He said a project report of Rs. 5 crore has been prepared and would be submitted to Centre for funding very soon. The Minister said creating of infrastructural facilities, besides face lifting of pilgrim sites like Mata Vaishno Devi, Raghunathji Temple, Shiv Khori, Ranbireshwar Temple, Sudhmahadev, Pandu Gufa at Akhnoor, Peer Baba Buddan Shah, Satwari, besides other holy places for visiting pilgrims is the priority of the Government. He said Government endeavours to provide upgraded facilities to the pilgrims and added that in this regard various projects have been taken up so that the devotees may not face inconvenience during their visit to these holy places. Jora during his visit to Raghunathji Temple passed on instructions to the concerned authorities for some additions and alternations in execution of works. He directed for restoring original facelift to the temple complex and advised for consultation of reputed consultants while taking up the conservation work of the holy temple. Jora also visited Ranbireshwar temple, Shalamar and took stock of the under execution works. He was apprised that Rs. 20 lakh are being incurred on construction of path way, public conveniences, garden and installation of mast lights in and around the temple premises. Jora also visited Ziarat Baba Buddan Ali Shah (RH), Satwari, where the Tourism Department has taken up some development works which include construction of view point, path way, public convenience and canopy.
