| Bhalla dedicates community hall to people at Gorkha Nagar | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 17: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Raman Bhalla today said that Gurkhas are best known for their history of bravery and playing vital role in defending the borders of the country. The Minister was addressing people after inaugurating Shri Guru Gorkh Nath Ji Community Hall at Gorkha Nagar in Bahu Fort, completred at a cost of Rs. 25 lakh. Ex-MP and President Bhartiya Gorkha Prisang, Dil Kumari Bhandari, Col. B. S. Rana, General Secretary Northern Zone, Bupinder Adhikari, Col. R. S. Burathoki, prominent citizens and locals were present on the occasion. Bhalla said that Gorkha Community are playing vital role in every sector especially in defence, adding that most of Jawans of Gorkha regiments have sacrificed their lives while defending the borders of the Country and fighting militancy. The Minister said that on the completion of Community Hall in the Gorkha Nagar, the people would be able to arrange their religious as well as social functions there by paying some nominal charges. "It is the duty of every citizen to protect public property", Bhalla exhorted. Responding to the demand of locals, the Minister said that Government has released Rs. 55 lakh for up-gradation of cremation ground at Gorkha Nagar in Bahu Fort area. He asked the executing agency to complete it within stipulated time on modern lines for the convenience of general masses. Regarding construction of community hall at Nai Basti, he asked the people to donate land for the purpose. He said that Coalition Government, headed by Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah believes on practical progress. He said that instructions have been issued to officers/officials to work with zeal and dedication and come up to the expectations of the general masses by solving their problems. On the occasion, the children of Gorkha Community of Bahu Fort presented a colourful cultural programme which was highly appreciated by gathering. Later, Bhalla distributed mementos among the participants.
