| Delegation of SGPC calls on Malik | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Apr 17: A delegation of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, (SGPC) Amritsar headed by its Secretary, Sardar Joginder Singh called on Minister for Higher Education, Abdul Gani Malik last evening and demanded an Educational Institution in the name of Baba Bandha Singh Bahadur at any place related to Baba Bandha Bahadur either at Rajouri, the birth place of Baba, Dera Baba Reasi or at Jammu. The delegation apprised the Minister that ancient place of Dera Baba Bandha Bahadur exists at Rajouri district and village Tanda Dera Baba about 20 kms away from Reasi district headquarter where thousands of devotees of Baba Bandha Bhadaur Ji from the J&K and various parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and other parts of the country visit throughout the year to pay obeisance. Besides, a 3-Day historic Dera Baba Mela is also held every year in Reasi district to make Baisakhi festival. This year in the Mela over fifty thousand devotees participated. The delegation also invited the Minister for participation in the victory procession of Guru Govind Singh Ji which would be flagged off by the Chief Minister of Punjab on May 12, this year. Malik gave a patient hearing towards their demands and assured that Government would consider these sympathetically. Other members of the delegation which include, Sardar Swaran Singh Khalsa Incharge Jammu & Kashmir State, Sardar Karam Singh, Sub Committee member of SGPC and Sardar Ranjeet Singh were also present on the occasion.
