| 48 bovine animal rescued, four held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Apr 17: Nagrota police in its on going drive against the bovine smuggling arrested four bovine smugglers and rescued 48 bovine animal. Three vehicles which were instrumental in carrying bovine animal to Srinagar have also been seized. As per police source Nagrota police led by SDPO Nagrota Faisal Qureshi on specific information laid a naka and intercepted three vehicles bearing registration numbers JK02W-3833, JK01B-3525 and JK02AD-8851. During checking of the vehicles police rescued 48 bovine animal which were being carried to Srinagar.Four bovine smugglers identified as Mumtaz Ahmed son of Binya Ameen resident of Ramban,Ghulam Din Khan son of Abdul Qyoom resident of Baramulla,Shabir Ahmed resident of Batote and Fazal Hussain son of Gulzar resident of Nagrota.Their interrogation is on to elicit more information. responsible for marginalizing Gujjars under ST category.He cautioned the community to unite for bifurcation of the share of Gujjars and Bakerwals from other Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities of Jammu and Kashmi , with a separate 8% share out of total 10% reservation available to 12 ST groups in the state with plea that they are not as forward as to compete with other tribes.Kashmir are well aware about the Islamic philosophy and there is no need of the non state subject "Mullas" in this state. However, when contacted Minister of State for Auqaf Ajaz Khan said, "Government has nothing to do with Waqf funds. They are being managed and controlled by the Waqf board administrator." Referring to the allegations Minister of State for Power Shabir Khan, who happens to be the local MLA, said, "I am not aware of the statement of Imam and nothing of that sort has happened as alleged by him."
