Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 17: The mobile services of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) were partially disrupted today in the entire state causing great deal of inconvenience to the subscribers, who again become panicky thinking that government has once more stopped the cellular services following yesterday’s SMS ban and after few hours’ its revocation.
According to BSNL authorities, our cellular services across the state were hit by a technical snag.
Speaking to Early Times Chief General Manager, BSNL, RK Koul said that the optical fibre was damaged at Bari Brahmana and Samba due to digging by some agencies and added the department is on work and services will be restore fully till evening. He said both mobile services and land line have been affected adding that men are at work on war footing. He said it is not the first time that the services get disconnected due to the carelessness of the agencies which dig up the road. They are responsible for the disruption; beside they don’t inform BSNL authorities before initiating the digging work.
Amar Singh a business man from neighbouring state of Punjab while talking to Early Times said one fails to understand why department is not providing services in a better way as business-man are the worst suffers. Another business man namely Abdul Majid Bhat said, due to non-availability of phone facility, I am not in a position to contact my shop at Sopore to know whether truck with goods reached or not. He further said department should not keep subscribers in dark and the needful should be done without wasting time.
Mohit Verma, a university student, said that right from the morning, the connectivity from my mobile to other mobile (B.S.N.L) was getting failed. It always shows network fail and later the ring tone and then automatically, the call ends. I tired at least 15 times to call my friend, but of no avail. I also send message, but it shows sending failed.
Nisha, College student, said, it was really disturbing not to get connected to my friend on phone. I was to attend my interview today but due to non-connectivity to my friend, was not able to know the exact venue and time of interview.
Some residents also complained of not receiving and sending SMS (Services) to valley. They were of the opinion that when other private operators are providing good services to its subscribers, BSNL should provide better services as it is the largest telecom operator in the country and should shoulder responsibility of eratic services to far of places in the state. Thank god, SMS have not banned in state as of now, but in future, it is responsibility and mandatory for the government to provide good services in our state.
